Lazy Sundays...

I love SATURDAYS. I love them because I know that I don't have to work the next day. I love Sundays too, but they are always too short. I wish there were nothing to get ready on Sunday, nothing to prepare for, no work the next day. Sunday to me, is a day meant for rest and relaxation, the "Sabbath." a lazy Sunday, however, I have not had for a long while. Okay, so that's a lie, I had one last weekend! But before that it had been months. The last time I took off work was a few sick days.

But I have been wondering, what is a lazy Sunday? And should we embrace it? What would we do on this lazy day? Sleep? Watch tv? Those seem like pointless life wasters. I always deamt of a Sunday like this: (roll film)

We find Tom, Tom is sitting in his lounge chair in the sitting room, smoking casually out of his pipe. (Near an open window, of course! Or maybe he shouldn't be smoking at all! It's a bad example for the kids!) Moving on... He is reading the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times will follow! (What do you expect? This is what all articulate, sexy, sophisticated men read! Football move over.) Mom is in the OPEN kitchen, I say open with importance because mom is not a slave to the kitchen, but the kitchen is her love, her workshop, her second home. Mom is preparing something deliciously vegan for the family's Sunday brunch. There will even be a desert, a delicious pie or cake or something of that sort. the kids are spread out on the floor playing games and providing the family entertainment, with performances, singing and shows they put on themselves! The eldest daughter is skilled in piano and the youngest is a talented singer. Evenings are spent by the piano with the fireplace lit.

Ahhh, reality BITES! That is a dream, my dream. Probably not so fitting to the women of today. The Michelle Obama's, the Hilary's, the destroyers of tradition. The destroyers of the lazy Sunday.

Sunday is not meant for running errands, watching hours of endless television, it is made for family! Family is the building block of generations to come and it is being destroyed by the social world. Now we can all sit in or separate corners of the house using our lap tops, cell phones, dvrs, whatever else is out there! Sorry mom, if you need me send me a text! I'll be in the next room.

It is time for housewives to emerge. Time to take back our roles, time to open our eyes and see what importance we have, what a basis we establish, we are the fundamentals, we are the future. LOL. If only someone would listen to me!
